"… It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in." - American Beauty
Can you see beauty?
Can you honestly look beyond the obvious; and really see the beauty all around? It resides there, right in front of us, blatantly there… waiting for us to notice…
Do you take the time to detach yourself from your own individual thoughts… wants… needs… so that you can see the beauty?
Do you see the beauty in the old lady having difficulty getting up out of the booth behind you… smile on her face even though she is aging and finding it more difficult to rise out of the chair… a fun colored scarf carefully strewn around her neck and chest… She notices me… she smiles back in a beautiful knowing glance…
I absolutely love that!!! I love when you allow your nature, being, self to rise above the immediate surroundings… conversation… chaos… to notice that brief glance of true beauty…
Are you able to do this? Do you even know what I am talking about?
I try to make it a habit to find that external beauty all abounds… it comforts my soul… makes me feel whole… makes me present in the moment… at peace with myself and universe…
Can you stop bickering about the server who doesn't take notice to you because you are in a hurry to get your food? Can you live in just the beauty of the moment? Have you detached yourself from the present so much that you can't experience the beauty anymore?
Try this… just sit back… look around the room… just notice the beauty in other smiles, laughter, children playing, men watching the game, elder ladies chatting, the restaurant owner cleaning up… they are smiling... they are beautiful...
Beauty is contagious… the more you seek beauty; the more beauty you will find…
… it comes full circle…
beauty = love…
… and love wins!
