a view from top shelf

my heart remains safely placed on the top shelf...

my heart has been placed back on the top shelf… i reside here... to me this has always been a good thing… but in retrospect and mourning… it is also a very lonely place to reside…

you see… top shelf consists of those rare, fine-tuned, beautifully crafted and well cultured bottles…

the eye-level selections; are generally very common, average tasting, well traveled and general creatures… jack, jim and jose are all located here, having a party of a time… and they mix well with eachother and with many generalities to create all kinds of mixtures and messes… but, have a little too much of these guys, or mix them up a bit too much, and you will be visiting jon latter on in the evening… and needing joe bigtime the next morning!!! :)

the middle shelf is pretty... there are some really nice selections there, still very general… a good selection for those who have a slightly more sophisticated approach, likes and tastes… but still not quite top shelf… and take caution… because sometimes middle shelf visitors might just be bottom shelf dwellers trying to make a good impression on middle shelf selections, in efforts of trying to reach the top shelf spirits… a good wine can be found here on middle shelf… pretty and fruitful, you can always find chamboard, or a more spohisitacted tasting crown royal, and there's belvedere too with it's four times distilled complexity and lure… these beauties can all be found here… they are great choices… generally, fancy, beautiful bodies, and well designed and groomed looks… these dwellers are sometimes often misunderstood and/or used inappropriately… a good match on the middle shelf needs both parties to understand the complexity and diversity that supersedes these dwellers traits in order to work best together… for example… you don't want to mix chamboard with just anything… takes more skilled concoctions to make this level work seemingly… and you can try a good choice such as oban, dalwhinnie or a nice tawny warre's port… they are all good, but best when dwellers on this shelf are able to appreciate such selections and be able to distinguish amongst themselves...

top shelf… this shelf… the hard to get to shelf… the tender normally has to get the stepping stool just to get up there… then there is often a faint layer of dust on us... because we aren't there for general consumption... this shelf includes rare ports, fine distilled and blended whiskeys, bourbons and delicately groomed cognacs… this shelf is often very pricy and overlooked by the average folks and even the middleclass because of it... but, it isnt just price that makes these gems so appealing and wonderful... they are often time tested and refined to perfection… they are perfection seekers... they reside in the most beautiful bottles decorated with beautiful designs and often adorned with gold and crystal applications... moet & chandon, dom and opus one are quick to agree... and definitely able to please… but, like these beauties… it takes a trained and knowledgable coinsure to truly appreciate and indulge in their beauty, complexity and intricate tastes, joys and pleasure…

often unnoticed, and frequently hidden among the bang and clatter, the top shelf is a lonely place at times… but, there is treasure here for those willing to make the extra effort to experience such fine indulgences… top shelf is where the spirits soar... love wins... where the goal is to be the very best you can be… where you may have to stand alone and hold your head up in pride against your will at times because of your nature, morals and definitives... but, if I have to be alone here because of my beliefs, traits and uncompromising nature to surrender to mediocrity, normalcy... alongside my inability to expire and/or lessen in quality, so be it… maktub!

cheers!
